The theatres in Tamil Nadu have reopened from today (August 23) and it has come as a big sigh of relief for all the exhibitors and film buffs. Theatres in Tamil Nadu were shut down in the third week of April due to the severity of the second wave of Covid 19 and after a gap of 4 months, theatres have finally reopened. Now that the theatres have reopened, the makers of Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi have officially announced that the film will release on September 10. It looks like Thalaivi will be the first Tamil film to release in theatres after the second wave of Covid 19 and it is going to be interesting to see how the film fares at the box office. The makers of Thalaivi have gone through a patient wait to release the film only in theatres and their wait will come to an end on September 10.

The film has been censored with a U certificate. Produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri under the banner of Vibri Motion Pictures, the film features Arvind Swami playing the role of MGR, alongside several other talented actors including Nassar, Samuthirakani, Bhagyashree, Madhoo, Poorna, Thambi Ramaiah, and others. The film has been shot by cinematographer Vishal Vittal. Thalaivi will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Thalaivi, which happens to be the biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, is directed by Vijay. The film has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.

GV Prakash and Vijay are known for their highly successful collaborations in the past and let us hope that Thalaivi maintains that success streak. Post the theatrical run, the Tamil and Telugu versions of Thalaivi will stream on the Amazon Prime Video platform, while the Hindi version will stream on Netflix.
