Earlier today (August 19), director Selvaraghavan took to his official Twitter page to share a mistake that he has realised now. Selvaraghavan directed the fantasy epic drama, Aayirathil Oruvan which starred Karthi, Reema Sen, Andrea, and Parthiban in the lead cast. Though the film has a cult fan following and is regarded as a classic today, the film was not quite a big success during the time of its release. The film released during the Pongal weekend in 2010. 11 years after the movie's release, Selvaraghavan has realised a mistake that he and his team shouldn't have made.

Though originally the film was shot on a budget of 18 Crores, the film was marketed and promoted as a film shot on a budget of 32 crores and this lie has taught the ace filmmaker a lesson. Selvaraghavan tweeted, "The actual budget of #aayirathiloruvan was 18 crores. But we decided to announce it as a 32 crore film to hype it as a mega budget film. What stupidity! Even though the film managed to collect the actual budget it was regarded as average! Learnt not to lie whatever the odds are!".

On the professional front, Selvaraghavan's next directorial venture will be Naane Varuven, starring Dhanush in the lead role. Produced by Kalaipuli Thanu, the film has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Selva has also become a busy actor these days! He will be making his debut as an actor with the upcoming Tamil action drama, Saani Kaayidham, directed by Arun Matheswaran. Selvaraghavan will be sharing screen space with Keerthy Suresh in this film which was wrapped up recently. Selvaraghavan will also be acting in Thalapathy Vijay's highly anticipated next, Beast, directed by Nelson.

According to the buzz on social media, Selva is expected to play one of the antagonists in the movie and it is going to be exciting to witness his face off against Vijay. For now, check out the latest trending tweet from Selvaraghavan, sharing the mistake that he did during Aayirathil Oruvan, here:
