Gorgeous Deepika Padukone is one of the top stars of Bollywood and she has proven herself as a more than capable performer, time and again. She is also currently one of the most sought after actresses. Apart from acting, this classy lady is also foraying into production, with the movie Chhapaak, which is being directed by Meghna Gulzar. We now hear that she has also decided on her next production venture. This new project would be co-produced by Deepika Padukone and Madhu Mantena and is said to be an epic, in the making.

Talking about this new venture, our sources state that it would be an adaptation of the epic book Mahabharata but told from the point of view of Draupadi. Deepika would be playing Draupadi in this project and she is said to have exclaimed that this is the 'role of a lifetime' for her. There are reports that this project would be made in installments and that the first part would be released in time for Deepavali 2021. Madhu Mantena was earlier a part of the quartet behind the Phantom Films banner, including Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane.

Deepika feels that Mahabharata is not just a story but has a number of life lessons but have all been told only from the view of the men and never from the view of a woman. She feels that it is this new perspective that would make the project interesting and significant.
