Dr. Beela Rajesh, the Secretary of Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare addressed the press on Monday regarding the coronavirus pandemic in various parts of the state. Speaking to press persons, Dr. Beela said there have been 98 new positive cases in Tamil Nadu with the count of the total number of affected rising from 1,075 to 1173 in the past 24 hours while adding that 58 people have been discharged to date after undergoing treatment with 10 declared dead.

Dr. Rajesh further stated that nearly 33,850 people have been currently placed under home quarantine, while 136 are in isolated wards at various hospitals across the state and that 63,380 persons have completed their mandatory quarantine period of 28 days. She then said that Tamil Nadu's capital, Chennai, accounts for 208 cases - the highest in state - and also shared the news that 34 of the 38 districts in Tamil Nadu have been affected by coronavirus with the government once again requesting its citizens to continue to adhere to social distancing as the lockdown period across the state has been extended till April 30.
