Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education K. A. Sengottaiyan issued a statement on Saturday saying the reopening of schools in the state is not going to be possible for the time being due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since the reopening of schools in the state is getting delayed, the issue of reducing the syllabus will be deliberated upon with the administrative officials and those in the education department, the minister said. He further went on to speak about the board exam results for classes 10 and 12 saying they will be announced in the month of July after the examinations across the state will be held in June.

Tamil Nadu government announced a few days back that students of classes 10 and 12 are being prepared for their exams through online coaching as well as by referring to the Kalvi channel. The exams were initially scheduled to take place towards the end of March, but has since been postponed in order to avoid students getting infected by the COVID-19 outbreak, which has so far left over 20,000 people testing positive with the state recording more than 150 deaths to date.
