Earlier today (June 24), ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan's father, Sivan passed away. He was 89 years old when he breathed his last. Reports suggest that Sivan died due to a cardiac arrest at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. Sivan is the first accredited Government Press Photographer in Travancore and Kochi. He was also the founder of the popular photo studio, 'Sivan Studios', located at the Thiruvananthapuram junction. Sivan was the still photographer for the Malayalam classic film, Chemeen, directed by Ramu Kariat. Notably, Sivan is also a 3 time National Award winner. Sivan's demise is a big loss to the Indian film industry and several notable film stars are sharing their condolences on social media.

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran shared a picture of Sivan on his official Twitter page and wrote, "Rest in peace Sivan uncle 🙏🙏🙏". Apart from Santosh Sivan, Sivan also has two other sons - Sangeeth Sivan and Sanjiv Sivan. Sangeeth Sivan penned a heartfelt note and posted it on his official Twitter page. Sangeeth Sivan expressed that it is going to be difficult for him and his brothers to travel life without him and thanked him for all the life experiences that he gave to the three sons.

Sangeeth Sivan's tweet read, "Thank you Dad for everything! Difficult to imagine a world without you but we will continue to trudge d path you have paved for us, safe in d knowledge that u would b guiding us from your place in the clouds & stars. Santosh Sivan, on the professional front, has completed two films as a director and both the film's are waiting for the release. One happens to be Jack and Jill, a Malayalam drama, starring Manju Warrier, Kalidas Jayaram, and others, while the other is Mumbaikar - a Hindi action drama starring Vikrant Massey, Vijay Sethupathi, and others. Mumbaikar is the official Hindi remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj's debut Tamil film, Maanagaram.
