In an unexpected turn of events, legendary director Basu Chatterjee passed away and it has taken the entire Indian film fraternity by shock. It is said that Basu was suffering from health related problems for the past few weeks. Basu was 90 years old when he breathed his last. He is best known for his light-hearted emotional dramas that connected big time with the people. His notable film works include Sara Akash, Piya Ka Ghar, Us Paar, Rajnigandha, Chhoti Si Baat, Chitchor, Khatta Meetha, Priyatama, Chakravyuha, Jeena Yahan, Baton Baton Mein, Apne Paraye, etc.

Basu Chatterjee’s film, Durga won the National Film Award for the Best Film on Family Welfare. His death is indeed a big loss to the Indian film industry. Leading actors, directors, producers, and celebrities across the country have been mourning the death of Basu Chatterjee on social media. Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai producer Boney Kapoor took to his Twitter space to share his condolence message. He tweeted, “Condolences on passing away of Basu Chatterjee. He leaves behind a unique legacy of films with stories of simple everyday characters told with mix of humour and emotion. #RIPBasuChatterjee”.

However, Ajith's fans have been expressing their anger and disappointment below this tweet, about the fact that there has been no update about Valimai from Boney Kapoor ever since the project's announcement. Another section of people have condemned this reaction from the fans, stating that it is not appropriate to ask for an update in a tweet that mourns the death of a legendary filmmaker.
