A film that went on to become a success among film buffs across South India was the Malayalam-language action thriller Ayyappanum Koshiyum, which came out in theatres in early 2020 before the nationwide lockdown was enforced due to the pandemic. The smash hit Malayalam film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon in the lead roles and was the second independent directorial of Sachy, who passed away due to a cardiac arrest in June last year. Post the smash success of Ayyappanum Koshiyum, reputed Telugu production banner Sithara Entertainments announced a remake with 'Power Star' Pawan Kalyan and Baahubali fame Rana Daggubati reprising the roles of Biju Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with the makers now releasing an official making video for their upcoming venture tentatively titled as Production No 12.

Pawan Kalyan's character in the Ayyappanum Koshiyum Telugu remake is named Bheemla Nayak and is reprising the role of a police officer essayed by Biju Menon in the Malayalam original. The excitement for the action thriller’s remake in Telugu has been massive ever since it was announced as it will see Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati in an on-screen face-off for Sankranthi in January 2022

Being directed by Sagaar K. Chandra, the untitled Ayyappanum Koshiyum Telugu remake has a screenplay written by blockbuster director Trivikram Srinivas under Suryadevara Naga Vamsi's Sithara Entertainments banner. The makers have also landed a stellar technical team featuring names like chart-buster composer S. Thaman, cinematographer Prasad Murella and editing by Naveen Nooli. It is to be noted that there were talks sometime back about Ayyappanum Koshiyum being remade in Tamil and the remake rights being bagged by producer S Kathiresan of Five Star Films, with an official confirmation awaited.
