WOW: Arjun Reddy - Extended Cut To Be Re-released On This Date | To Have Unseen Footages
Arjun Reddy is one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema and the success made sure that film went on to be remade in Hindi and Tamil as well. The movie starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles and both the star received accolades for the impressive performance in the film. Especially, the male lead Vijay Deverakonda stunned everyone with his hard-hitting performance and went on to become one of the top names in the Southern film industry.
Arjun Reddy was written and directed by Sandeep Vanga and produced by his brother Pranay Reddy Vanga's company Bhadrakali Pictures. It film also featured Rahul Ramakrishna, Jia Sharma, Sanjay Swaroop, Gopinath Bhat, Kamal Kamaraju and Kanchana in supporting roles. Songs for the film was composed by Radhan and the background score was done by Harshavardhan Rameshwar. The cinematography was handled by Raj Thota and editing was done by Shashank Mali. The film tells the story of Arjun Reddy Deshmukh played by Vijay Deverakonda, a high-functioning alcoholic surgeon who has anger management problems. Arjun is on a self-destructive path after the marriage of his girlfriend Preethi Shetty played by Shalini Pandey. The film focuses on his downfall and subsequent resurgence.
Arjun Reddy released on August 25, 2017, and the team recently celebrated the film’s 3rd anniversary. And now, the director of the film Sandeep Reddy Vanga has made a surprise announcement. Sandeep revealed in a latest interview with a popular YouTube channel said that he is planning to re-release Arjun Reddy with all the deleted scenes on August 25, 2022, which marks the film 5th anniversary. Sandeep also added that the new longer version will feature scenes involving Arjun Reddy’s childhood, his relationship with his bullet, his dog, his school friends and several fun scenes.
In the interview, Sandeep said, “We had an edited footage of 4 hours 20-minute duration which was later trimmed down to 3 hours 45 minutes. But we had to further shorten it to 3 hours 6 minutes for the theatrical release. The film would have been a much bigger hit had we released the 3 hours 45-minute version.”
