D50 or DD2 as it is also being called is Dhanush's second directorial after Pa Paandi (2017) and has created quite a lot of curiosity after reports began doing the rounds stating that the upcoming film is going to be a gangster drama. Announced back in January, production on the highly-anticipated film began in July with a special poster also being unveiled. The shooting on D50 so far is said to have been carried out in a single stretch for nearly 100 days, and this latest update from the critically acclaimed actor suggests that the production on the ambitious venture will wrap up much sooner than expected.

The star cast of D50 has been kept under wraps as several big names are said to be attached to the exciting film, including Dhanush's brother Selvaraghavan and filmmaker-actor S J Suryah, with an official announcement yet to be made. The only names revealed to be a part of the film up until now are on the technical front starting with cinematographer Om Prakash, editor Prasanna G. K., art director Jacki, publicity designer Kabilan, and costume designer Kavya Sriram, who previously collaborated with Dhanush on various other ventures. Apart from directing and starring in the lead role, D50 will also have a story and a screenplay written by Dhanush after Naane Varuvean (2022), and has left fans excited about what he's got in store for everyone.
