Popular Playback singer who has participated in the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Senior Ramani Ammal has passed away today on April 4, 2023. The 69-year-old singer was well-known by the name Rockstar Ramani Ammal and was the runner-up of the first season of the show. She was named a Rockstar by the judges of the show. The singer made her debut with the acclaimed romantic drama film Kaadhal and has also worked on multiple films including Kathavarayan, Thenavattu and Haridas. After her success in the reality show, she has sung songs for multiples film including Vijay Sethupathi starrer Junga, Vishal's Sandakozhi 2, VJ Rio's Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja and Suriya's Kaappaan. Her recent work was in the film Bommai Nayagi that had Yogi Babu has lead in the song Kadar Kara Kaathu. It is said that the singer was suffering from various health-related ailments for a year and was taking treatment. Rockstar Ramani Ammaal has died due to ill health.
The private channel Zee Tamil that telecasts the reality shows expressed condolences on her death. The anchor of the reality shows Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Seniors Archana Chandhoke has shared her condolences with photos of the singer Ramani Ammal on Instagram. She said “your voice will be live forever in our hearts. We will miss you our dearest Rockstar Ramani paati”. She also said "My dearest rockstar Ramani Ammal, you will truly be missed! Om Shanti!" Others have also expressed their condolences on the death of the playback singer.
Last month, a singing video was released from the recording session for Bommai Nayagi's song was released and it became viral with fans commenting about the her energy while singing. The lyric video from the movie also featured the singer 'Rockstar' Ramani Ammal. She proved that age is just a number as she became famous only in her older years. Now, many fans have been expressing their condolences on the demise of the play back singer.
