Nature is considered to be the biggest super power, by many! Said to be the great equaliser, Mother Nature has been healing rapidly during this COVID-19 lockdown, from the wounds inflicted upon her by us humans! Almost the entire world is reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic and lakhs of lives have been lost in the battle with this deadly virus! Though humans have been suffering massively, it looks like this downtime is being used by Mother Nature, to heal herself and the environment. We have been reading reports of pollution levels going down across the world, as well as holes in the Ozone Layer, repairing themselves. Many of nature's flora and fauna species are also thriving during this lockdown, with minimal or zero interference by humankind!

COVID Lockdown: Tiger population on the rise in Sundarbans!

The latest report we have is that the almost extinct tiger population is also gradually going up, especially during the nation-wide lockdown having been imposed by the Central Government to control the spread of the COVID Virus! The Sundarbans mangrove forests area is considered to be one of the Tiger Reserves in our country and we now have a report stating that the Tiger population here has gone up to 96 from the previous 88, as reported in last year's Census! Forest Officials report that the sighting of Royal Bengal Tigers has almost doubled in the Sundarbans, during this lockdown period! Earlier, the sightings were said to be twice per week, which has now become almost four or five per week, after the lockdown came into effect! Let's hope Mother Nature and our environment heal as much as possible before we humans begin polluting them again...
