There has been a sudden spurt in the number of COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus affected cases, in India! Following this, the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has revealed that it has revised its testing strategy, to contain the spread of this Virus! The ICMR has released a statement which says that the testing strategy for returnees and migrants who show symptoms for influenza-like illness (ILI) will henceforth be tested for the Corona Virus within seven days of the ailment. This report also states that no emergency clinical procedure, including deliveries would be delayed because of the lack of testing!

The ICMR report also states that all hospitalised patients, who develop symptoms for ILI and frontline health workers involved in the containment and mitigation of the COVID-19 who report such symptoms, will immediately be tested for the Corona Virus, using the RT-PCR tests! Also, direct contacts, high-risk and asymptomatic contacts of a COVID-19 positive case will henceforth be tested once within day 5 and day 10 of coming into contact with the infected person, as opposed to testing once between day 5 and day 14, as is happening currently!
