Gautham Menon’s web-series Queen is all set to release on the 14th of December on MX Player. As a part of the promotion, a press meet for Queen was held today (10th December) in Chennai. Even the first episode from the season was screened for the media. Speaking to journalists, Gautham Menon said: “Queen has been made as an 11-episode web-series. This is just the first season which I have directed along with Prasanth Murugesan. He has directed 5 episodes and I have directed 5 episode and we have also jointly directed one of the episodes. He had previously directed a film called Kidaari and it was a beautiful experience to have worked with him. Both of us came into this project mainly because of the writing. I got inspired seeing the writing of the script and we took the writing to Ramya Krishnan ma’am to play the lead character called Shakti Seshadari. Maybe, she was a little hesitant in the start since it was a web-series. But when we narrated the script to her, she loved it and said ‘I will play the role.’ And that’s how we filmed Queen. I had a Steller-cast and crew.

This Shakti Seshadari character is played by three actors because of the age group. Anikha who acted in Yennai Arindhaal and Viswasam will be Shakti’s character between 13 to 17. Anjana has acted as the teenage Shakti while Ramya Krishnan takes over the role as Shakti grows older. Hopefully, if everybody likes and if it turns out to be a hit, we will shoot the other seasons. But I think it is already been commissioned and we are working on the script. We have worked this web-series just the way we generally shoot a feature film. So, I had a great time doing this. It is a great alternative platform to exhibit your wears. I want filmmakers who are my contemporaries to makes seasons and shows on another platforms. People ask me if am I directing a series because I don’t get opportunities to make films. My big directors across the globe have already been making films on digital platforms and I feel it is a great way of telling a story. This is pretty much the future. I suggest people to watch this series on a bigger screen.”
