Kadhai Thiraikadhai Vasanam Iyakkam Movie review
We chase our dreams endlessly, we take careful steps to make them come true and when they do come true, we miss out on living the moment by worrying about the endless possibilities that might take away that dream from us. Director Parthiban Radhakrishnan’s Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam shows us how much the good and bad moments will mean to us if we stop predicting and worrying about the uncertain tomorrow.
Produced by K.Chandra Mohan Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam stars Santhosh Prathap, Akhila Kishore, Dinesh Natarajan, Lallu Prasath, Sahithya Jagannathan, Vijay Ram, Mahalakshmi, Thambi Ramaiah, Sandra Amy in lead roles. This film also stars several renowned actors from the Tamil film industry in cameos.
Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam revolves around a group of enthusiastic youngsters who constantly brainstorm and discuss different twists and turns of stories that they can relate to in order to ideate an enthralling script for their debut film. In this journey where they are always on the lookout for interesting incidents, their personal experiences make them realize that the answer they were looking for is right in front of them.
Parthiban definitely delivers what he promised through Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam . His unconventional narration is at its best in this film and he has caught the attention of the audiences with his gripping screenplay. Not a minute feels long as stories within stories unravel right in front of our eyes. Each and every dialogue has a Parthiban touch to it that you almost start to visualize him speaking those dialogues. Stories within stories might be confusing at times but he has made sure we follow what he is trying to convey till the very end. As each character in the film narrates a story, we are able to figure out the kind of person they are in the film. The emotions, twists and turns, smiles and tears in the film are very relevant to youngsters of today especially those who have dreams of making it big in the film industry which can sometimes feel like an ocean that can take you high or even drown you. He shows us how not knowing what happens tomorrow can actually be the best thing that happens to us.
Cinematographer Rajarathinam and Editor Sudarsan are one of the major strengths of this film Rajarathinam’s visuals complement and bring to life Parthiban’s screenplay. There is a lot of visual drama when needed with a beautiful play of colours and then we are taken back to realistic visuals presented in an equally creative manner. Sudarsan’s editing is one of the main reasons why it is easy to follow so many stories within stories. Sathya’s music sets the theme of the film and the two songs are perfectly placed to make sure they don’t distract and spoil the flow of the film.
Though the cameos by several stars from the industry are good, rawness of the performances by the young and new cast along with Thambi Ramaiah’s extraordinary Portrayal of Seenu steals the show. Santhosh Prathap’s subtle performance adds to the seriousness of his character, Akhila Kishore has carried off the role of an eccentric wife very realistically, Vijay Ram’s spontaneity and timing in humour is very good and Thambi Ramaiah has truly lived the character of Seenu.
Overall Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam will bring joy to the film lover in you. It will make sure you live and laugh each moment that you forget the ticking clock.
