Vijay Antony's next big Tamil film, Pichaikkaran 2, will be heading to theatres worldwide on May 19, the composer turned actor has announced on social media. Revealing the theatrical release date, the actor also announced on Twitter that the upcoming film's trailer will be coming out on April 29 at 11 a.m. Vijay Antony, who is also making his directorial debut with Pichaikkaran 2, dropped the double update, while sharing a new poster featuring himself atop a stack of gold and silver coins along with the announcement stating 'blockbuster'. The film's Telugu version titled Bichagadu 2 too is set to open in cinemas in May along with its trailer announced to come out tomorrow.
Produced under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner and being presented by Fatima Vijay Antony, Pichaikkaran 2 was initially slated to be launched on the big screens as a grand summer release this month, but was later postponed owing to post-production works that required to be completed. Although the film will also be coming out in Kannada and Malayalam languages under the titles Bhikshuka 2 and Bhikshakkaran 2, the makers have announced the release date only for the Tamil and Telugu versions as of now. The buzz for Pichaikkaran 2 shot up after it was revealed sometime back that the film's satellite and digital rights have been acquired by Star Network. Check out Vijay Antony's tweet below:

Pichaikkaran 2 is currently one of the most-awaited films in recent times since there is a huge craze among Tamil cinema fans for sequels and expectations are huge for Vijay Antony to come out firing on all cylinders after his Tamilarasan released recently received a mixed response. The film also starring Kavya Thapar as the female lead is the sequel of Pichaikkaran, which released in 2016, and went on to become a phenomenal success, while also turning out to be a huge box office hit in Telugu.
