National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai: Part 1 has enjoyed a terrific theatrical run and continues to go strong in cinemas into its fourth week despite several films coming out since its release in March. Produced by Elred Kumar's RS Infotainment, the period crime thriller starring Soori in the lead role and Vijay Sethupathi in an extended cameo, and featuring music by 'Isaignani' Ilaiyaraaja has turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office, while also garnering immense critical acclaim, with the film now also being released on streaming on the ZEE5 platform.
Post the theatrical release of Viduthalai: Part 1, it was revealed that an extended version of the film would be streaming on OTT instead of the theatrical version. In that light, the film's lead star Soori has now shared a new poster that includes the runtime details of the theatrical edition as well as the extended version of the film on his Twitter page, while informing that the director's cut clocks in at 2 hours and 32 minutes in comparison to the big screen version standing at 2 hours and 16 minutes. The additional sixteen minutes will no doubt be a big delight for movie buffs and film aficionados, who will now get to witness the additions Vetri Maaran has made to his version of Viduthalai: Part 1. Viduthalai: Part 1 continues to be debated extensively by fans on social media for its performances, music, technical aspects as well as its themes, and is yet another feather in the cap for Red Giant Movies as the film is the third successive big hit of 2023 for the blockbuster production-distribution banner in Tamil Nadu after Ajith Kumar's Thunivu in January and Kavin's Dada in February. With the first installment ending on a high note, all sights are next on the sequel Viduthalai: Part 2, which is expected to be launched in cinemas in the months ahead.
