In a surprising turn of events, Vijay's Thalapathy 66 was officially announced yesterday (September 26) and social media is abuzz about the project since then. Thalapathy 66 will be directed by Vamshi Paidipally who is known for directing Karthi's Thozha and Mahesh Babus Maharshi. The film will be bankrolled by Dil Raju and Shirish under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. According to reports, Thalapathy 66 will be a pan Indian film that will be originally shot in Tamil and Telugu, with a dubbed release in other languages. This film is expected to expand Vijay's market nationwide and the fans have already pinned high hopes on the project.

Meanwhile, director Vamshi Paidipally and producer Dil Raju paid a visit to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Temple earlier this morning (September 27). The duo sought the blessing of the almighty ahead of the beginning of Thalapathy 66. Vamshi and Dil Raju also visited the temple to thank the Lord for the National Award for Vamshi's earlier directorial, Maharshi that starred Mahesh Babu in the lead role. After the darshan, director Vamshi addressed the press and media and talked about Thalapathy 66 for the very first time.

Vamshi said, "I have written a script that will be loved by all kinds of audiences. As of now, I can only say this. Vijay sir is a big star in Kollywood and has a humongous fan base. I am very glad and happy to direct him. We have just announced the project and further details regarding the film will be out in the coming days". The pre-production works for Thalapathy 66 is happening in full swing and the film is expected to go on floors by early next year. More details are awaited.

Vijay is currently shooting for his highly anticipated next, Beast, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of Kolamaavu Kokila and Doctor fame. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features Pooja Hegde as the female lead and Selvaraghavan as one of the antagonists.
