It came as a huge relief for the film fraternity last year when the piracy website TamilRockers was permanently banned after their domain had been suspended. There had been speculations that Amazon might have intervened after a number of films released on their OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video, were being hindered by the torrent site that illegally provided the latest Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bollywood and English movies online for free HD download. Having said that, it looks like Tamil Rockers is set for a return - only in the form of a title for an upcoming Tamil film starring Premgi Amaren in the lead role.

Premgi made the announcement on Twitter that his next film titled Tamil Rockers directed by Barani Jayapal under producer K. Pichandi's Jaswanth Super Cinemas banner is gearing up for a release soon. Speculated to be an action comedy, the film will also see Premgi turning composer once again, with his father and industry legend Gangai Amaren penning the lyrics for the songs. As of now, not much has been revealed about Tamil Rockers apart from Premgi dropping the film's first look poster. Check it out below:

The curiosity for Tamil Rockers is expected to get bigger as the title will connect instantly with young audiences, who have usually taken to visiting the piracy torrent website in the past. Apart from Tamil Rockers, Premgi, who was last seen in the Disney Hotstar horror web series, Live Telecast alongside Kajal Aggarwal, also has an important role in his brother and director Venkat Prabhu's multi-starrer action thriller, Maanaadu, starring Silambarasan TR in the lead role. Likewise, on the musical front, Premgi awaits the release of the long-delayed comedy heist film, Party, while also being one of the composers to have scored for the Tamil anthology, Kasada Thapara
