May 29 - TN COVID Update: 874 New Cases | 9 New Deaths | Total - 20,246 Cases & 154 Deaths
It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and May 29th has turned out to become Tamil Nadu's highest recorded numbers so far. The numbers are very alarming, especially in Chennai. The official numbers of #COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 874 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 20,246! Of these, 618 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 13,362, with Chengalpattu having 61 cases, Thiruvannamalai registering 14 new cases and Kancheepuram recording 12!
There have been 9 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 154. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 13,362 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 8,776 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone, stands at 6,353! The number of recoveries has also been high with 765 new recoveries and discharges and the total number of recovered people is now at 11,313. There have been 11,334 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 466,550! With the fourth phase of the lockdown nearing its end, there is still uncertainty over what the Government's decision is going to be. Stay tuned...
