The countdown is on for 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Leo releasing in theatres worldwide on October 19 and the excitement for the upcoming film is getting bigger by the day. Billed to be a mass action drama, the film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with the three tracks released so far turning out to be chart-topping hits. In that light, Leo's third single, 'Anbenum', picturized on the lead pair Vijay and Trisha, includes lyrics written by Vishnu Edavan, and was released on Wednesday, October 11, to a rousing response. With 'Anbenum' climbing to the top of the charts in no time, Vishnu has now explained the song situation that Lokesh Kanagaraj had explained to him before he began writing the lyrics.
Explaining how Lokesh Kanagaraj described the 'Anbenum' song situation in Leo, Vishnu Edavan said, "The main focus was to be on his (Vijay) family and his persona. I was shown the visuals as a reference before I began writing the lyrics. Lokesh had said that the song should be peaceful since he was trying a melody track in his film. He told me to discuss it with Anirudh because he had a specific vision for the song. He also said that he was trying to come out of his comfort zone with this song. And, he's really done it compared to his previous films, which are in a different pattern, but with the same intensity. His storytelling is with action, but the method in taking an approach this time is different. When I was looking for a hook for the song, that is when I thought about the 'Anbenum Aayudham' line as it is basically an interpretation of 'Thalapathy' Vijay's 'ignore negativity and spread positivity' philosophy." He continued, "The idea suggested for the song was that it should be for his big family and we made it for his fans as well. Although Vijay is known for his action and mass image, when you get close to him, you'll know that he's an affectionate person. And, since his weapon is 'love', I decided to go with the lines 'Anbenum Aayudham' ".
