Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the Chief Ministers on Monday once again (April 27) by video conference with reports stating discussions could be held about the possibility of the lockdown extension across the country for the third time. Modi, who had first announced the lockdown to go on from March 25 to April 14, had then extended it till May 3, owing to the sharp rise in the number of positive coronavirus cases in the nation.

The lockdown across India has brought life to a complete standstill as it has caused severe loss in terms of economic progress for organizations, businesses and enterprises. Daily wage and migrant workers have gone through countless sufferings due to the lockdown, which has been enforced in order to reduce the count of COVID-19 cases, which currently numbers at 20,471 patients with 652 people succumbing to their deaths after contracting the disease.

Relaxations can already seen in a few regions around the country after showing a drop in the number of COVID-19 cases being reported including the states of Goa and Manipur declared earlier this week to be coronavirus-free after patients who tested positive had shown recovery. It now remains to be seen the decision PM Modi goes on to take in regard to the lockdown and whether the nation shall see an extension again after May 3.
