Popular Bollywood actress Yuvika Chaudhary was taken in for questioning by the Haryana Police on Monday for allegedly making offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on social media. She was charged under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) and came out on an interim bail granted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Ashok Bishnoi, lawyer of Yuvika said, "My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform."

A case had been filed against Yuvika Chaudhary by Rajat Kalsan in Hansi, Haryana after the complainant alleged that she had made derogatory statements about the Scheduled Caste community in a video posted on her YouTube vlog. The video sparked outrage among many after it went viral, with the actress taking to Twitter to issue an apology about the incident. Stating that she didn't know the meaning of the word she had spoken, Yuvika tweeted, "Hi guys I didn't know the meaning of that word that I used in my last vlog I didn't mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone I apologise to each n everyone I hope you understand the love you all."

Yuvika Chaudhary started her career in Bollywood in Shah Rukh Khan's Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Om Shanti Om, including making appearances in films like Veerey Ki Wedding and the recently-released The Power. She gained popularity after her stint on Bigg Boss 9 in 2015 and was evicted from the nationwide hit reality TV show on Day 28.
