Popular actor who played villain roles in south Indian films arrested again

Ajaz Khan is well-known Bollywood actor who has featured in movies like Rakta Charitra and Allah Ke Banday and acted in several television daily soaps including Rahe Tera Aashirwaad and Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki. Ajaz Khan is known for his appearance in Bigg Boss 7 Hindi. He also appeared on the TV show Comedy Nights with Kapil. His other films include Lakeer ka Fakeer and the South India films Dookudu and Naayak. He has appeared in an Academy Awards promotion commercial. Actor Ajaz Khan has now been arrested by the police department for allegedly making statements potentially harmful to communal harmony.
According to the Khar police, action was initiated against Mr Khan after several social media users pointed out that Mr Khan, during a Facebook live session, made communally-sensitive statements connected to the ongoing circumstances. On Saturday afternoon the outrage against Mr. Khan had crystallised into a hashtag #ArrestAjajKhan. "We have arrested and charged Mr. Khan for promoting enmity on grounds of religion; waging, attempting to wage or abetting waging of war against the Government; intentional insult to provoke breach of peace and disobeying an order promulgated by a government servant under the Indian Penal Code," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Abhishek Trimukhe said.
It must be noted that Ajaz Khan was earlier arrested in 2018 by Narcotics Cell of Mumbai police for having drugs in the form of ecstasy tablets. On 18 July 2019, he was arrested for "creating/uploading videos with objectionable content promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, & creating hatred among public at large." He was produced in court yesterday and was remanded in judicial custody till April 24.
