Dr. Vimala Rani Britto explains why she doesn't believe in a 100 percent result system:

Dr. Vimala Rani Britto, a leading name in the education industry, founded St. Britto’s Academy along with her husband, Xavier Britto, a Tamil film producer, and is currently the chairman of Kerry Indev India Pvt Ltd. Having garnered distinction by delivering excellence in education, she is at present also the Chairman of VKAN-V Solutions and is serving in multiple roles namely as the Director of Kerry Indev Logistics, Managing Director of Esthell Hotels & Resorts, and Director at Esthell Homes. Dr. Vimala Rani, who has made St. Britto’s Academy stand out in education over the past 25 years, recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Galatta and opened up on the changes she wanted to bring in the system when she started out.

Explaining the changes she implemented at St. Britto’s Academy, Dr. Vimala Rani goes on to talk about the aspects she wanted and did not include in her school. She said, "I don't believe in the 100 percent exam result system. In order to achieve that result, many people will make the studious students write the exams through their institution and make the remaining students appear via open universities. Most of the schools will tell students to not take any leave. If a child takes a day's leave, he/she would have so much fear to go to the school the next day. Back then, it used to be very strict. But, when we create an open setup for the children, they too will get a sense of responsibility."

Upon being asked about what she observed among the children after implementing the changes in the system at St. Britto’s Academy, Dr. Vimala Rani Britto explained, "The number of days the children were applying for leave had reduced considerably. Parents too realized the importance of the leaves being given to their children. They realized that it was not for the child alone but for the parent too. And, during such instances when a student takes leave, the teachers will help. They will give the portions to be studied in advance in case they are traveling. We also support a lot of skill development and that includes sports. When students take up sports, they have to spend more time practicing and I told them back then itself that they can skip the first hour of school."

Looking back at her own childhood days, Dr. Vimala Rani said, "To tell you the truth, I would not go to school. I too would be on leave often. But, I was able to see the difference in pursuing many things happily, and after that, I was able to handle and cross the hurdles in my life easily. I also learned to be humble when I achieved any success. In addition, I also participated in all the cultural events and sports events during my school days. All these factors constitute making a versatile human being."
