The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is very much alive and kicking it standing tall having made $5.2 billion in worldwide box office collections with their 7 films till date. DC’s last release, Joker, which came out in October, is not part of the DCEU, but the DC Black, a new line of DC Comics-based films with darker, more experimental material and had gone on to make over $1 billion global collections thereby becoming the first R-rated movie ever to do so. That said, the DCEU has two big films lined up for 2020 - Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, or simply Birds of Prey hitting screens on February 5, 2020 and Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to the 2017’s Wonder Woman, coming out in theatres worldwide on June 5, 2020. Gal Gadot returns in the titular role in Wonder Woman 2, which had an action-packed trailer released earlier today and has been receiving a thumping response from fans everywhere.

Wonder Woman 1984 has Gal Gadot reuniting with director Patty Jenkins and is set in the 1980s and has the DC superhero facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah. Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking Wonder Woman, took in $822 million at the worldwide box office. Wonder Woman 2 also sees Chris Pine as Steve Trevor return from the dead after dying in the first film with Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.

Based on a screenplay written by Patty Jenkins with Geoff Johns & David Callaham, story by Jenkins & Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 also includes Matthew Jensen as the director of photography, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto, and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming. Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer has scored the music with editing done by Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson cutting the film.
