Popular Tamil actor Amara Sigamani passed away yesterday (June 21) and his demise has come as a big shock for the Tamil film fraterntiy. Amara Sigamani was also a poet. According to reports, the veteran actor passed away around 4 AM on Monday, June 21 due to a cardiac arrest. He was 70 years old when he breathed his last. The last rites were performed yesterday at 4 PM in the Madipakkam cemetry. Amara Sigamani's son, Parthiban shared the news on his official Facebook page. Sharing a picture of his father, Parthiban wrote, "It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved father Kalaimamani D. Amarasigamani. Rest In Peace Appa".

Amara Sigamani is survived by his wife, Shyamala Devi, along with 3 sons and 1 daughter. For the unversed, Amara Sigamani is best known among the Tamil audience for his portrayal of supporting characters in several Tamil movies. Some of his best works include Superstar Rajinikanth's Sivaji: The Boss, Chiyaan Vikram's Anniyan, Vijayakanth's Ramana, Madhavan's Evano Oruvan, and more. Amara Sigamani also acted in several Tamil TV serials including Devayani's Kolangal, Ponnunjal, Ahalya, Sontham, Uravugal, Kadhai Neram, and others.

Amara Sigamani is also a recipient of the Tamil Nadu Government's Kalaimamani and Kavimamani awards. Popular Tamil actor Mohan Raman took to his official Facebook page to share his heartfelt condolences on Amara Sigamani's demise. Mohan Raman called Amara Sigamani to be his good friend and had only good words to tell about him. "RIP my good friend Amarasigamani . You were always a courteous, caring and competent actor and human being . I pray for your Athma to attain Sadhgathi", wrote Mohan Raman.
