Veteran actor Bala Singh has passed away. He was aged 67. The critically-acclaimed actor was admitted at the Vijaya Hospitals in Chennai a few days back after he suffered from food poisoning and passed away in the wee hours at 1AM in the morning today (27.11.2019) morning. His body will be placed at his home near the Virugambakkam police station after 10AM and then be taken to Nagercoil for the last rites. Bala Singh was known for his earnest performances and went on to garner a fan following of his own over the years for taking up roles as an antagonist apart from vital supporting characters.

Having made his acting debut in Tamil cinema in Nasser’s smash hit, Avatharam, Bala Singh’s second film was the Kamal Haasan biggie, Indian, after which he went on to star alongside ‘Thala’ Ajith in Raasi, Ullasam, Dheena and Kireedam. The versatile performer also had major starring roles in Sundhara Travels, Saamy and Bheema with ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, Madhavan’s Nala Damayanthi, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Udhaya, Madhurey and Vettaikaaran, Pudhupettai with Dhanush, Naan Avanillai, Madrasapattinam, Simbu’s Osthe, Jigarthanda, Kurangu Bommai, Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam and NGK, Sarvam Thaala Mayam and Magamuni.

Last seen in Arya’s Magamuni, Bala Singh is most remembered for his power-packed performances in director Selvaraghavan’s 2006 cult classic action gangster film, Pudhupettai, with Dhanush, Sneha and Sonia Agarwal and the political drama, NGK, starring Suriya, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh, released earlier this year.
