The charming Suriya entered movies in 1997 with the Vasanth directorial Nerrukku Ner. Since then, he has worked in 37 movies across his 22-year career. Suriya started out as a loverboy and eventually turned into one of the most followed action heroes in Tamil cinema. His stunning physique, powerful eyes, impeccable dialogue delivery and boy-next-door charm, made him one of the most popular actors in Kollywood. However, he has not been having the greatest of times at the Box Office in recent times. Two of his most expected movies - NGK and Kaappaan, did not do as expected.

However, being the dedicated actor that he is, Suriya has already jumped headlong into his next projects! He has finished shooting for Soorarai Pottru with director Sudha Kongara. This movie, touted to be a cinematic take on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, will see Suriya as Maara, an aviation pioneer. The movie is all set to hit the screens soon and Suriya is gearing up for an exciting lineup of projects ahead, with a long list of stellar, established directors. This list includes names like Hari, Vetrimaaran, Gauthan Menon, Siruthai Siva, Bala, Lokesh Kanagaraj and the latest addition - R. Ravikumar!

Of these directors, we have confirmed news that projects with directors Siva, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Ravikumar have been signed already. Projects with the other directors (Hari, Vetrimaaran, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Bala) are said to be in the discussion stages. However, news on the grapevine is that Suriya would next start off on a project with director Hari, as all the other directors are held up with some other ongoing project or are in discussions with other actors too. While many speculations abound that Suriya and Hari's project might be a sequel in the Singam series, there are some strong reports that this might be an entirely different movie altogether.
