Regina Cassandra, who was last seen in Chimbu Deven's directorial, Kasada Tabara, is all geared up for her next release in Tamil cinema, Soorpanagai. The film is directed by Caarthick Raju who is known for making movies like Thirudan Police and Ulkuthu. The film is currently in the final leg of post-production. Earlier this evening (Sept 14), the makers unveiled the official trailer of the film and it looks promising and intriguing. The film will feature Regina Cassandra playing an archaeologist who unravels the mystery behind a skeleton that she finds in a quicksand. The film's story takes place in two different timelines - one in the present and the other in a periodical setup. The periodical portions will appear as the flashback sequences and it is said to be one of the major highlights of the movie.

While Regina plays an archaeologist in the present, she will be seen playing a Queen in the period portions. Her makeover as a Queen looks elegant and striking and it looks like Soorpanagai will have an important place in Regina's filmography. The trailer also carries elements of horror, captivating the audience's attention. From what we see, Soorpanagai seems to be an interesting mystery thriller with a tinge of horror. Sam CS' effective background score was also one of the highlights of the Soorpanagai trailer.

The trailer of Soorpanagai was unveiled by leading personalities from the Tamil and Telugu film industry including the likes of Vijay Sethupathi, Arun Vijay, Vishal, Aishwarya Rajesh, Vishnu Vishal, Sundeep Kishan, director Lingusamy, Nidhhi Agerwal, and others. Produced by Shekar Varma under the banner of Apple Tree Studios, the film has cinematography by Gokul Benoy and editing by Sabu Joseph.
