Actress Meera Mitun was arrested in Kerala, on August 14, Saturday, for her casteist remarks against the members of the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) community. In a recent interview to a YouTube channel, Meera Mitun made derogatory remarks against the members of the SC and ST who work in the film industry. She had mentioned that the SC and ST members should be chucked out from the film industry and the clipping of the interview went viral on social media. Following the outrage on social media, Vanni Arasu, Deputy General Secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, filed a complaint against Meera Mitun for her casteist remark. She was also booked under 7 sections.

The actress was arrested in Kerala and a video of her screaming before the arrest have been doing rounds on social media. Having said that, Meera Mitun was brought to Chennai today (August 15) for being produced before the court. While entering, Meera Mitun made allegations against the Police officials. Talking to the press and media, Meera Mitun alleged that the Police have broken her hand and additionally, she also said that the Police has not given her food for the last 24 hours.
