Director Mani Ratnam recently interacted with his fans through his wife, Suhasini’s Instagram live video and during the interaction, he answered quite a few questions. One of his fans asked if he is to do a sequel to one of his films, what film it would be. He answered, “My current film, Ponniyin Selvan is being made as a two-part film. So that will be my film having sequel.” Another fan from North India asked Mani Ratnam when he would do a Hindi film up next. He said, “Actually, I am trying to write a script during this lockdown period and I am working on it. Probably, I might do it, after completing Ponniyin Selvan.” Well, doesn’t it sound exciting?

Mani Ratnam’s last film in Hindi was Raavan (starring Abhishek Bachchan - Aishwarya Rai) which released in 2010. Let us hope Mani Ratnam’s next after Ponniyin Selvan, is a trilingual film that releases in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. During the live, Mani Ratnam also revealed that he is a big fan of Malayalam director Lijo Jose Pellisery who has films like Angamaly Diaries, Ee Ma Yau, and Jallikattu, to his credit.

On the professional front, as we all know, the maverick filmmaker is building his dream project, Ponniyin Selvan, that features a stellar star cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakamanu, Prabhu, Jayaram, Sarath Kumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aadukalam Kishore, Rahman, Riyaz Khan, and others. This historical epic has music by A.R.Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman.
