Big historic films have become the new trend in the cinematic world giving some unthinkable numbers at the box-office. The next historic drama film is from the Malayalam industry and the movie titled Mamangam features names like Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique in important roles. Achuthan, Anusitara, Iniya, Kaniha, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan, Sudev Nair and Manikandan will be seen in supporting roles as well. Sajeev Pillai was the director of Mamangam in the first schedule but was replaced by M Padmakumar due to various reasons. Produced by Venu Kunnappilly under the banner Kavya Film Company, the film has music composed by M Jayachandran.

Mamangam is based on the historical Mamankam festival of the 18th century in the banks of the Bharathappuzha at Thirunavaya, in the Malabar region and the will follow the story of Chaaverukal warriors who plot to overthrow the Zamorin rulers. The film originally shot in Malayalam will be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi and released simultaneously. Mamangam is scheduled to be released on November 21st.
