Owing to the current outbreak of the Coronavirus, the film industry has been shut down for the past few weeks and this scenario is expected to continue for the next couple of days as well. This shutdown has affected the daily wage workers (like lightmen, production assistants, crew assistants) who earn their beta and salary through film shootings on a daily basis. Realising the crisis situation, leading actors, producers and directors have come forward and helped the needy through financial and food donations. We saw actors like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi, Sivakarthikeyan, Vijay Sethupathi, Harish Kalyan, directors Shankar and Hari, producer Kalaippuli S Thanu, making their donations.

The latest to join this list is actor Jayam Ravi, who has donated an amount of Rs 5 Lakhs for the welfare of the FEFSI union workers. On the work front, Ravi is awaiting the release of his 25th film, Bhoomi, which will hit the screens this summer, provided the current panic situation gets resolved. Ravi is also playing one of the leads in Mani Ratnam’s dream project, Ponniyin Selvan, co-starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha.
