Two Indian states - Goa and Manipur - have been declared coronavirus-free now. The news has come as a major relief for people across the nation who have been worried about the number of cases spiraling upwards with the passage of each day. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant issued a statement saying a total of seven people from the state had tested negative after repeat samples and six among them had been discharged earlier with the seventh patient allowed to go home on Sunday. Likewise, Goa is now the first green state in the country with no positive cases reported since April 3.

Similarly, the North-Eastern state of Manipur too has been declared to be free of any coronavirus patients with Chief Minister Biren Singh announcing the good news on his Twitter page. He informed that the two patients in the state, who had earlier contracted the COVID-19 virus, have now tested negative after fully recovering from the infection. Among the two patients, the first patient in the state was a 23-year-old woman who returned from the United Kingdom with the second case identified as a 65-year-old who got infected upon coming back from the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi's Nizamudddin. Manipur CM N Biren Singh's tweet read as follows: "I am glad to share that Manipur is now Corona free. Both patients have fully recovered and have tested negative. There are no fresh cases of the virus in the state,". With both states being declared as green zones, Goa and Manipur are now allowed to restart their business activities in accordance to the mandatory safety protocols as per the Union Home Ministry's notification regarding relaxations in the lockdown, which has come into effect from Monday.
