Sivakarthikeyan's Doctor is all set for a grand theatrical release on October 9 and is Nelson Dilipkumar's second film after he tasted blockbuster success in his directorial debut, Kolamaavu Kokila, in 2018. Jointly produced by Sivakarthikeyan Productions and Kotapadi J Rajesh’s KJR Studios banners, the upcoming black comedy action film will see Sivakarthikeyan paired opposite Priyanka Arul Mohan, with 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander's songs already receiving a phenomenal response from fans. With the film less than a week away from hitting screens, director Nelson Dilipkumar recently sat down for an interview with Galatta to speak about the process that went behind the making of Doctor as well as the characterization of Sivakarthikeyan's role.

During the interaction, Nelson was asked about the challenge of making Sivakarthikeyan's character in Doctor a quiet person compared to his co-stars, who are having a blast doing comedy. Nelson, who is currently directing 'Thalapathy' Vijay's Beast under the Sun Pictures banner, stated, "I felt it was the right thing to do. When it comes to SK, if you make him stand alone, it's a risk in itself. He has the potential to single-handedly carry the entire film by himself. If you follow him alone, the film will be entertaining. Now, imagine making that character stand all by himself. Now, that risk is my challenge. His character in Doctor in this context will be intelligent, calm and subtle. He will be quiet, not emoting much on the comedic front by himself for the most part, but will allow others to do their thing, which makes the film move into its own space."
