In an unexpected turn of events, leading playback singer Benny Dayal on Saturday took to social media to announce that he will not be speaking anymore about the ongoing edition of the television singing competition Super Singer on Vijay TV. Benny also added that he will be returning as a judge for Super Singer 9 next year as he has been at the receiving end of hate messages from a number of fans. Stating that he will not be posting anything anymore about the ongoing season, Benny wrote that he cannot take the hate messages coming his way anymore, while adding that he too is a human being at the end of the day. 

Benny Dayal, who served as one of the judges on Super Singer 8 on Vijay Television alongside reputed singers Anuradha Sriram, SP Charan and Unnikrishnan stated, "I will no more be posting anything associated with Super Singer 8. I can't take all the hate messages. Thank you for all the love you have shown me. I'm human after all. I'm done. Thank you. Won't see you next season!" Soon after Benny's announcement, many fans came out in support of his decision, while some others expressed their shock at the hate messages against the singer. 

Earlier, several fans were taken aback and had gotten upset when one of the contestants, Sridhar Sena, was eliminated from Super Singer 8 last week. Being hosted by Ma Ka Pa Anand and Priyanka Deshpande, Super Singer 8 is being telecast on Vijay TV during the weekends and Abhilash, Manasi, Muthusirpi, Iyenar, Anu Anand, Bharath and Adithya are the remaining contestants on the ongoing edition. Despite the judges on the show showering praises on Sridhar for his performance and also telling that he is a potential candidate to be one of the finalists, it came as a major shock to many fans when he went on to be eliminated. Fans have since then taken to social media to express their disappointment at Sridhar Sena's elimination from Super Singer 8, while also questioning whether the other contestants fared any better.
