'Superstar' Rajinikanth's next film Annaatthe is gearing up for a grand theatrical release this Diwali on November 4 and is being directed by Siva under the Sun Pictures banner with music by chart-buster composer D. Imman. Touted to be a mass rural family entertainer, Annaatthe has been carrying massive expectations right from the moment it was announced in late 2019, with the film's production and release plans since then getting delayed due to the pandemic. Sun Pictures, who have been constantly keeping fans updated regarding the developments in Annaatthe, announced on Saturday that popular North Indian actor Abhimanyu Baldev Singh has joined the film's cast.

Fans will know Abhimanyu Singh for playing the villain in 'Thalapathy' Vijay's blockbusters Velayutham and Thalaivaa, including the antagonist in director H. Vinoth's Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru starring Karthi in the lead role. Abhimanyu Singh's performances in the Vijay and Karthi films were commended by fans and critics, who showered him with appreciation for his dedicated performance as a menacing villain. Whether Abhimanyu Singh is once again playing one among the villains apart from Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu remains to be seen and his inclusion in Annaatthe is no doubt a big addition. Annaatthe is currently one of the biggest Tamil films in development, with the team currently in Lucknow and the production headed for a finish soon. Director Siva celebrated his birthday earlier this week, with pictures of Rajinikanth joining in on the celebrations going viral on social media. Likewise, Keerthy Suresh, who is reportedly playing Rajinikanth's sister in Annaatthe, too had shared a photo of herself with Siva, with comments wishing them for the success of the film. Apart from Rajinikanth, Keerthy Suresh, Jagapathi Babu and Abhimanyu Singh, the Annaatthe star cast features Khushbu, Meena, Nayanthara, followed by Prakash Raj, Soori and Sathish in major supporting roles.
