Veteran Bollywood actor Chunky Panday's mother Snehalata Panday, grandmother to leading actress Ananya Panday, passed away in Mumbai on Saturday. She was 85. Chunky Panday and his wife Bhavna were spotted arriving at Snehalata's residence in Bandra with their younger daughter Rysa to pay their last respects. Ananya Panday too had accompanied her parents to her grandmother's house, with the 58-year-old Chunky's brother Chikki Panday's wife Deane Panday also seen coming to pay her last respects.

Pictures from Snehalata Panday's residence where the Panday family had gathered are doing the rounds on social media and show a distraught and emotional Ananya in tears being consoled by her friends and relatives. The Student of the Year 2 actress, who will be seen next opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Liger, has often dedicated Instagram posts to her grandmother, including wishing her on Women's Day earlier this year.

On Sunday, Ananya once again took to social media and penned a heartfelt emotional statement in memory of her beloved grandmother, while also sharing a few photos from her childhood. She wrote, "rest in power, my angel ❤️ when she was born the doctors said she wouldn’t live beyond a few years because of a defected heart valve, but my Dadi lived and how. She worked every day up until the age of 85, going to work at 7 am in her block heels and red streaked hair. She inspired me every single day to do what I love and I’m so grateful to have grown up basking in her energy and light. She had the softest hands to hold, gave the best leg massages, she was a self proclaimed (and very politically incorrect) palm reader and never ever failed to make me laugh. The life of our family. You’re too loved to ever be forgotten Dadi - I love you so much."
