A blockbuster in Tamil cinema, Dhanush's Asuran directed by Vetri Maaran in 2019, had been announced for a Telugu remake under the title Narappa, with superstar Venkatesh Daggubati in the lead role. A joint venture by Suresh Productions in association with Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, the upcoming Telugu action drama has been directed by Srikanth Addala featuring music by Mani Sharma, with Shyam K Naidu handling the cinematography and Marthand K Venkatesh taking care of the editing. Expectations for Narappa have been massive, with the makers now releasing the much-awaited 'Chalaaki Chinnammi' lyrical video, which features vocals by Aditya Iyengar and Nutana Mohan.

'Chalaaki Chinnammi' in Narappa is based on the 'Yen Minukki' song in Asuran, with the visuals in the Telugu version centered around Venkatesh, Priyamani, who is reprising Manju Warrier’s role and Karthik Rathnam playing their elder son in the film. The visuals in the Telugu version are similar to the song in Asuran, with National Award-winning Tamil film director Vetri Maaran also being credited for the story in Narappa. With promotions already underway, there have been wide speculations for a while now that Narappa could be releasing directly on a leading OTT streaming platform, with an official announcement currently being awaited by fans.

According to reports, Narappa is expected to include a few changes in its story compared to the Tamil version to suit the tastes of the regional audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Apart from Venkatesh, Priyamani and Karthik Rathnam, the film also has a talented supporting cast among whom are Murali Sharma, Rao Ramesh, Sampath Raj to name a notable few.
