COVID Update: Tamil Nadu witnesses 77 new cases and 1 death, taking total to 911!
The number of COVID Corona Virus cases has been increasing with each passing day and India has already seen the sharpest increase in its history by witnessing 37 deaths and 896 new cases of people testing positive. Tamil Nadu has witnessed 77 new cases of people testing positive for symptoms of the Corona Virus. This news has been announced to the Press in a meeting by the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Mr. Shanmugam. He also detailed that strong containment is going on in places with people under quarantine. It has also been revealed that the Chief Minister is planning a video conferencing with the Prime Minister and will then have a meeting with all his ministers before taking a call on the extension of the lockdown after considering the inputs of the Healthcare workers!
The sad news is that, there has been 1 more death in Tamil Nadu. A COVID affected person has lost their life in the town of Tuticorin, today! This makes the total number of deaths due to COVID in Tamil Nadu, rise to 9! Shanmugam also revealed that plans are underway to provide all essential groceries through ration shops as well as make arrangements to have vegetables delivered to people's houses, from the Koyambedu market. There are also plans to provide relief to daily wage workers as cash benefits. Mr. Shanmugam has revealed that none of the Government Healthcare workers have tested positive for the COVID Virus but a doctor in Erode has tested positive for the Virus, after unknowingly treating an infected patient.
