Leading Tamil actress Jyotika recently made a big comeback to Bollywood after 25 years in Shaitaan alongside National Award-winning actors Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan and has once again garnered praise for her impressive performance in the supernatural horror film. Having earned a huge fan following over the course of her glorious career since the late '90s, the popular star recently sat down with Galatta India's Nayandeep Rakshit to talk about her journey in the film industry, while also opening up on missing out the National Award for Best Actress by one vote for her role in the Tamil film, Mozhi (2007).

Speaking about losing out the prestigious accolade conferred by the Government of India for her performance in Mozhi, Jyotika said, "Yeah, none of the films went for a National Award in my first younger innings. But, Mozhi, it was very special. I played a deaf and mute girl, and it's really very close to my heart. It was a tough film. It was a brilliant team. Very well-written. And, it does feel bad when you miss it by just that one vote. It did feel very... We're still in the reckoning. We're still in the run." Jyotika shared her positivity for a National Award win in the future adding, "I'll try till the end. I will."

Mozhi directed by Tamil filmmaker Radha Mohan continues to be celebrated by Tamil cinema enthusiasts and saw Jyotika stand out alongside her talented cast among whom included Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prakash Raj, M. S. Bhaskar, Brahmanandam, Swarnamalya, among others, and featured memorable songs composed by Vidyasagar. With Shaitaan now out, Jyotika will be seen once again in Hindi in the upcoming Sri, a film based on the life of visually-impaired industrialist Srikanth Bolla being portrayed by Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao, which has been announced to open in cinemas on May 10.
