Popular model and actress Poonam Pandey's husband Sam Bombay was arrested in Goa on Tuesday after she filed a complaint alleging he had assaulted, threatened and molested her. The couple got married recently on September 10, with the shocking incident revealed to have happened in Canacona village in south Goa where Poonam had been shooting for an upcoming film, the police said in a statement. According to the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), Inspector Tukaram Chavan of Canacona police station in a statement said, "Pandey filed a complaint late Monday night claiming her husband Sam Bombay had molested her, and threatened her with dire consequences after assaulting her. He was arrested,". He further added that the actress was subjected to mandatory medical tests following her complaint.

Poonam Pandey and Sam Bombay got married in a hush-hush wedding ceremony at their home in Bandra after the couple had been in a live-in relationship for nearly two years. Pictures of their wedding were splashed across each of their social media pages, including one Poonam captioned as, "Here’s looking forward to seven lifetimes with you." Earlier, in an interview with Bombay Times, she called herself and Sam to be "the most notorious couple". She stated, "We couldn’t ignore the fireworks between us and everything has been like a romantic Bollywood movie since. I’ll need three months to list everything that made me fall in love with him. Of course, I’m going to brag about my husband being the smartest on the planet according to me. Jokes apart, we are very similar in many ways. He is my best friend and the amazing part is that we’re so thick that we can read each other’s mind."

Following Poonam Pandey's police complaint and no other statement issued from the actress as yet, Sam Bombay deleted a few pictures of them together including the ones he had posted of their wedding on his Instagram page. The couple had earlier in July 2020 announced their engagement by displaying their rings on social media, with Sam sharing a picture with the caption, "We finally did it!".
