Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo is the next big film that has 'Thalapathy' Vijay in the lead role. Amidst huge expectations, The makers of the film released the first single titled Naa Ready on June 22. As the lyrical video of the song features many scenes where the actor is seen smoking it created a controversy. The makers then added a disclaimer in some shots of the video. S. Ve. Shekher is a veteran actor who has written, produced, directed and acted in many projects over the years and has also been a part of the Central Board for Film Certification which censors movies. The talented artiste gave an exclusive interview to Galatta Media and shared some interesting details about the certification process. He shared that when he was in the board a film directed by Muthaiya had 96 mutes and 36 cuts and another producer wanted censor certificate in two days and was willing to bribe him, but he did not comply.

During the interview, S Ve Shekher also shared about the controversy around the song Naa Ready from Leo. He said "I heard there is a controversy around a song from the 'Thalapathy' movie. the thing is it has not gone to censor”. He then explained that by censor board stance a film can show that an actor is smoking but should not glorify it like a smoking cigarette is great or that it will make people very happy then, it will be cut. He then explained “There is a film titled Maari, they gave 'A' certificate as the actor keeps on smoking in the film and it came for revising committee, to him. I said to them that let him smoke how much every cigarette he wants but it doesn't have any dialogues glorifying it. There was a dialogue for a character saying he can’t leave this bad thing behind and there were disclaimers too. So we can’t say much about it.”

This clarifies how the censor board sees shots of smoking and alcohol consumption that are shown in films. Watch the full interview:
