A film that drew quite a lot of debate among fans and still continues to garner discussion on its themes, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Kaala, released in 2018 was directed by Pa. Ranjith. Produced by Dhanush under his Wunderbar Films banner with Lyca Productions handling the distribution, the film earned Rajinikanth immense praise from fans for his power-packed performance, with the film also featuring smash hit songs composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The film showed the iconic action star prove his acting mettle once again and was a different step forward in terms of being a performance-oriented role. 

Among the several major highlights in Kaala was the film's large supporting cast that included names like acclaimed veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar as the antagonist, Eswari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Samuthirakani, Nitish Veera, Dileepan, Manikandan, Aravind Akash, Shayaji Shinde, Sampath Raj, Pankaj Tripathi, Sakshi Agarwal, Ramesh Thilak and several others. Among them, Sakshi Agarwal too had a role to play in the film as the daughter-in-law of Rajinikanth and Easwari Rao, with the model-turned-actress now taking to her Instagram page to share some never-before-seen stills from the film, which she has called are from deleted scenes. Sakshi has stated in her post that stills are from scenes that were deleted from the final theatrical cut of Kaala. She captioned her post and wrote, "Though the scenes could be deleted from the movie , but the awesome memories of #Kaala days will remain in my heart forever".

Post Kaala, Sakshi Agarwal had gone on to land a role in 'Thala' Ajith's Viswasam after which she appeared on the smash hit Tamil reality TV show, Bigg Boss season 3, last year. One of the most popular stars on Bigg Boss 3, she has since then gone to become a household name across Tamil Nadu. Prior to her appearance on the show, her performance in Kaala, despite being a short one, earned her plenty of appreciation from fans, who watched it in theatres, while some also praised her after Bigg Boss upon their rewatch. She has since then landed roles and will next be seen in GV Prakash Kumar's upcoming film Aayiram Jenmangal, Raai Laxmi's horror-fantasy thriller Cinderella, the Arya-Sayyeshaa action comedy Teddy to name a few. 

Popular poster designer Vinci Raj created a new wave in Tamil cinema with his innovative and creatively designed posters. He worked as the poster designer for three Rajinikanth movies including Kabali, Kaala and Darbar. Vinci’s other notable works include Indru Netru Naalai, Soodhu Kavvum, Mundasupatti, Maragadha Naanayam, Kanaa, and more. The latest exciting news is that Vinci is all set to make his mark as a director. Yes! Vinci Raj is looking forward to making his debut directorial film and the preparatory works have already started.

Talking to Galatta Media, in an exclusive chat, Vinci said, “I have finished the script works already and I’m currently talking with a few investors to associate with the project. Once everything gets firm, we will begin the project. This film is like a campaign and it is going to involve a lot of people. I have always had the passion to direct movies and I’m glad that I am taking steps towards it. The film will be a simple yet neat feel-good entertainer and I believe in my script. I am currently finalizing the technicians as per the budget of the film and once I am done with this, I will decide on the actors. As of now, the cast has not yet been finalized.”

Vinci also revealed that the estimated budget of this film is 3.8 crores. It can even turn out to be a crowd-funded film if more people come forward to fund the project. Interestingly, this film's story is based on real life incidents. This movie will have music scored by Dhibu Ninan Thomas of Kanaa fame, while T Santhanam (Kaaviya Thalaivan, Aayirathil Oruvan, Sarkar, Darbar fame) has been signed as the art director. Varsha Bollamma of Bigil and 96 fame is set to make her Telugu debut with the upcoming romantic drama film titled Choosi Choodangaane. The film also marks the debut of Shiva Kandukuri as the male lead who is the son of famous producer Raj Kandukuri. Raj Kandukuri has earlier produced successful films like Pelli Choopulu and Mental Madilo. Choosi Choodangaane is directed by Sesha Sindhu Rao and produced by Raj Kandukuri under the banner Dharmapatha Creations. The film has music composed by Gopi Sundar, while cinematography and editing are handled by Vedaraman and RavitejaGirijala respectively.

Choosi Choodangaane hit the big screens recently and opened to decent reviews from fans. With the movie running at the theatres, the makers have now released a new video from the film. The video is of the song Yemaindho and the song composed by Gopi Sundar is crooned by Kaala Bhairava and Nutana Mohan with the lyrics penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s Darbar announced to hit screens as a Pongal 2020 release is being directed by hit director A. R. Murugadoss and has massive expectations surrounding it already.

A Lyca Productions venture, Darbar includes a stellar technical team with Anirudh Ravichander scoring the music, Santosh Sivan for the cinematography, editing by Sreekar Prasad, T. Santanam for the art direction, the Ram-Laxman duo for the stunt choreography, lyrics by Vivek and Niharikha Bhasin Khan in charge of the costume designs.

Darbar’s shooting has been progressing at a steady pace in Mumbai with actress Nayanthara too joining the team followed by comedian Yogi Babu and Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar also said to be playing the antagonist. The film will reportedly feature an extensive supporting cast considering it is an action entertainer and has Rajinikanth playing the role of a cop after his 1992 film, Pandiyan.

Meanwhile, it was revealed last week that Bollywood actor and Sacred Games fame Jatin Sarna had landed a role in the film. Now, another addition has been made to the cast in the form of Hindi actor Pradeep Kabra, who has worked in Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2, Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore and Ranveer Singh’s Simmba. As for his role in Darbar, it is said he will be playing a comic villain and has already started filming his portions.

It must be noted that this isn’t the first time Pradeep Kabra has landed a role in a Rajinikanth film as he starred in the action drama, Kaala, released last year, in which he appeared as Nana Patekar's aide. 

Director Pa Ranjith turned into a producer last year through Pariyerum Perumal that was a big success. This Mari Selvaraj directorial received highly positive reviews from the audience and the critics. The film was raved for its strong content and honest filmmaking with no commercial compromises. Pariyerum Perumal also fetched numerous awards and accolades.

The success of the film lead Pa Ranjith to announce his second film as a producer, titled Irandam Ulaga Porin Kadaisi Gundu with Attakathi Dinesh playing the male lead. Meanwhile, we now have some exciting details on Ranjith's third production venture. This untitled film is said to have Madras fame Harikrishnan in the lead role and it is expected to be directed by a debutante. Harikrishnan rose to fame with his eccentric character, Johnny, in Karthi starrer Madras. He went onto bag important roles in biggies such as Kabali, Vishal's Sandakozhi 2 and Dhanush's Vada Chennai.

As like Ranjith's Pariyerum Perumal, this film is also expected to be a content driven. On the directorial front, Pa Ranjith is busy with the pre-production works of his Bollywood debut. He will be directing the biopic of Indian tribal leader, Birsa Munda. This film is expected to go on floors from May.

Actor Kathir is a happy man and is scaling new heights post the critical and commercial success of his Pariyerum Perumal earlier this year. Apart from his upcoming film, Sigai, we had reported last week that he is now also a part of Y Not Studios’ next project.

Meanwhile, sources close to us have now revealed that Kathir will be joined by National Award-winning actor Samuthirakani in the Y Not Studios film.

As of now, details on the project’s director including the cast and crew are unknown with an official announcement expected to be made in the days ahead. Samuthirakani has had a fantastic year with performances in films most notably in ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s action social drama, Kaala and Vetrimaaran’s action gangster drama, Vada Chennai, alongside Dhanush.

Pa.Ranjith who is famous for his social drama based thrillers is producing a film under his banner Neelam Productions named 'Pariyerum Perumal'. Vikram Vedha fame Kathir and Kayal fame Anandhi is starring in this film. It is being directed by Mari Selvaraj.

Pariyerum Perumal's is set to entertain the audience from September 28th. This movie's trailer has been released today. A Dog named 'Karuppi' plays a crucial role in this film. Santhosh Narayanan has composed some sensational songs which received a tremendous response among the audience. Kabali and Kaala combination have worked out really well for Santhosh Narayanan and Pa.Ranjith. This combo has once again joined together for this movie where this time Ranjith takes the position of a Producer.

The teaser and making video for this movie have been viral over the internet which creates a curiosity among the people. It's very rare to shoot a film using only Gimbal and the role for dogs have been very sensitive in this film.

Rajinikanth’s Kaala which came out last month gathered mixed response from the audience, yet it went on to collect decent amount at the box-office due to the Superstar factor.

The collections have not matched the star’s previous massive records, and the reasons are considered to be movie’s less commercial quotient and Rajinikanth’s political opposition.

Production on the second schedule for ‘Thala’ Ajith’s Viswasam kicked off earlier this week under Siva’s direction with Sathya Jyothi Films producing the film.

We had yesterday reported actress Nayanthara, who plays the female lead in Viswasam will be seen as a doctor in the rural entertainer.

Meanwhile, latest reports now state actress Easwari Rao too has been approached to play the female lead opposite Ajith.

Easwari Rao’s career has seen a new surge after her spectacular performance in ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s recently released, Kaala.

Apparently, ‘Thala’ will be seen in dual roles in Viswasam - as a father and a son - and Easwari Rao is being eyed to be the father character’s pair.

Ajith in dual roles seems a high probability considering he has been sporting the heavy salt and pepper look for a while now and we can expect him to get his hair colored perhaps in the days ahead for the son character.

Viswasam already has an ensemble cast featuring names like Vivekh, Kovai Sarala, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar, Thambi Ramaiah, Ramesh Thilak, Bose Venkat among others with music by D. Imman.

The stage is set for one of the most important biopics coming out in recent time starring S. A. Chandrasekhar in Traffic Ramasamy starting this Friday (June 22).

With Traffic Ramasamy gearing up for its release, S. A. Chandrasekhar had recently made a statement that supposedly drew comparisons between his son ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Mersal and ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth’s latest smash success, Kaala.

In reality, SAC has stated that Mersal was a better film in terms of conveying a political message than Kaala. 

The veteran filmmaker turned actor further told Vijay has a wider political knowledge than SAC himself. 

SAC also gave a big shout out to his Traffic Ramasamy saying all those who didn’t know much about the social activist and public interest litigator will view him in a completely new and positive light after watching the biopic.

Traffic Ramasamy has been directed by debutant Vicky under the Green Sigal banner with music by Balamurali Balu and includes Rohini, Prakash Raj, R. K. Suresh, Livingston among others in vital supporting roles along with Vijay Sethupathi, Vijay Antony, Manobala, Seeman, Khushbu and S. Ve. Shekher in special appearances.
