After more than 60 days of lockdown and with no public transport, the people of Tamil Nadu are finally getting some relied with relaxations in the lockdown! We hear that there will be 4 special trains running in the state, from June 1st! The Southern Railway has forwarded the request for trains from the State Government, to the Railway Board. These 4 trains would be inter-city expresses but will be truncated, as they will not reach Chennai, due to the high number of COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in the city.

4 special trains in Tamil Nadu from June 1st!

The Coimbatore-Chennai inter-city express will now be ending its journey at Katpadi itself, while the Madurai-Chennai Vaigai Express will run only until Villupuram! Also, the Coimbatore-Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Express will resume service. The Trichy-Thiruvananthapuram Superfast Express will now go from Nagercoil to Trichy. These trains are part of the first phase and more trains can be expected to be added in the coming days. However, trains will only resume running in Chennai, if the COVID infection spread, reduces considerably, in the city.
