EGO Movie review
EGO - Eshwar Gomathi is a unique title, though not a unique subject! VP Stillz presents this Sakthivel (of Kandha Kottai fame) directorial, starring debutants Velu and Anaswara.
Eshwar (Velu) and Bala (Balasaravanan) are petty thieves, though with a heart of gold! They are on the run from two gangsters they've stolen money from. While escaping on a train, they come into contact with Gomathi (Anaswara), who herself has run away from home! She is on her way to meet her boyfriend whom her parents have rejected! She is carrying with her a traditional ring that she wants to give her boyfriend, to use to persuade her parents. While on the train, the ring gets stolen, and Gomathi blames it on Eshwar and Bala. At a station, the duo of Eshwar and Bala identify the person who stole Gomathi's ring and while pursuing him, they miss the train and their stolen goods which they have asked Gomathi to take care of. In a bid to retrieve their goods and to return the ring to Gomathi, they go to her native. Her parents mistake Eshwar to be Gomathi's boyfriend and treat him as their future son-in-law. Will this confusion be resolved? Will Eshwar and Bala get back their loot? Will Gomathi convince her boyfriend and bring him home? Who will Gomathi marry? Watch EGO on the big screens to know!
Director Sakthivel has tried a lot to make a movie suiting today's audiences. His comedy works in parts and some scenes have been wonderfully done. Kash Villanz music is noteworthy, especially the title song. The way the lead characters are introduced is also very nice. Debutants Velu and Anaswara could have worked a little more on their dialogue delivery skills. Balasaravanan seems to have made the most of this chance, and evokes quite a few laughs. The screenplay could have been made more taut, ensuring that the movie picked up some more pace.
EGO is a romantic comedy with some interesting twists!
