EXCLUSIVE: Vignesh Shivan opens up on how he and Nayanthara convinced their parents about their relationship - WATCH VIDEO!

Leading Tamil director Vignesh Shivan recently opened up extensively about his journey in cinema, the films he's made, the support he's received from his family, and his relationship with actor Nayanthara and their married life after they tied the knot in 2022. In the second part of Galatta Media's latest candid interview series, 'Game Changers', we see the filmmaker in conversation with National Award-winning Tamil actress Suhasini Maniratnam where he goes on to speak about the first time he introduced Nayanthara to his family. 

Explaining a sequence from the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill, Vignesh Shivan revealed that the scene bore similarities to how he introduced Nayanthara to his family members. He said, "I brought her without telling anything to my family. All I said was Nayanthara is acting in a film and she said she wants to come to our home. I hadn't told them anything about us at that point. So, she came, ate food with us, and we all had a good time. After she left, my family jumped in joy with excitement. I revealed to them about us only later with a lot of patience. My mother and my sister are her big fans and like her for her boldness. I've also grown up with good women in my life." 

Speaking about the process of how Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was made and he and Nayanthara celebrated it as a couple, Vignesh Shivan said, "This love didn't happen after my success. It happened during my failure. Like, when I was really struggling." Talking about how they maintained their relationship carefully without expressing much to the world, he stated, "We just kept it natural. There's no agenda. We don't fix anything. If there's no necessity for something, then we don't go with it."
