Thiruchitrambalam is an upcoming Tamil film written and directed by Mithran Jawahar. Bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures, the film stars Dhanush in the eponymous role with Nithya Menen, Raashi Khanna, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bharathiraja, Prakash Raj, and Munishkanth in prominent roles. Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the film's music as well as its score. while its cinematography is handled by Om Prakash and editing done by Prasanna GK.

A new piece of information regarding the film has come to light. The popular film distribution and production company, Ayngaran International, one of the pioneers who took Tamil cinema to a worldwide audience, has officially acquired the overseas distribution rights of Thiruchitrambalam. They took to their official Twitter handle to announce this news. They wrote, "Excited to announce that we have acquired the overseas distribution of @dhanushkraja 's #Thiruchitrambalam 🙌💥 ". This comes as a great treat for fans all across the world as the film will now be released worldwide. The maker of the film have also announced that they would be releasing the third single of the film titled 'Life of Pazham' tomorrow (July 27). Two songs have already been released namely 'Thaai Kelavi' and 'Megham Karukkatha' with the former gaining immense traction with the fans as well as the general public. Thiruchitrambalam is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 18 August 2022. 

Thiruchitrambalam serves as the fourth collaboration between director Mithran Jawahar and Dhanush after having previously worked together on Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), Kutty (2010) and Uthamaputhiran (2010). On the work front, Dhanush is awaiting the release of Vaathi, Sir in Telugu (his Tollywood debut). The final stages of Naane Varuven are also in full swing which is being directed by his brother Selvaraghavan, as well as the film Captain Miller.
