The 44th Chess Olympiad which commenced in Chennai in Mahabalipuram on July 28 will continue until August 10. The opening ceremony of this competition was attended by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. K. Stalin, political figures, and various celebrities. The event began with various performances given by artists.

The viral song 'Enjoy Enjaami' was also performed at the inaugural event. The original song was sung by Arivu and Dhee but at the venue of the event, the song was sung by Dhee and singer Kidakuzhi Mariyammal. With Arivu not participating in the show, it raised various questions and became controversial. This did not sit well with Arivu.

Following this, there were reports stating that he could not attend the program because he had gone to America. This was all false. Arivu himself took to his official Instagram handle to clear the air. He said, "I “Composed” ,”Written” ,”sung”& “Performed” Enjoy Enjaami. Nobody gave me a Tune, Melody or a Single word to write this one. Spent almost 6 months of sleepless and stressful nights and days for everything it is right now. No doubt it’s a great team work. No doubt it calls everyone together . But it doesn’t mean that’s not the history of Valliammal or the landless Tea plantation slave ancestors of mine . Every song of mine will be having the scarmark of this generational oppression. Like this Just One..
There are 10000 songs of folk in this land. The Songs that carry the breath of ancestors ,Their pain ,Their Life, Love, Their Resistance and all about their existence. It’s all speaking to you in beautiful songs. Because we are a generation of blood and sweat turned into melodies of liberating arts. We carry the legacy through songs. Anyone can snatch away your treasure when You’re alseep. Never when you are awake. Jaibhim. Truth will always win in the end 🥇🙌🏻🙏🏻 #enjoyenjaami #appropriationart Arivu"

This is not the first time Arivu and his song have been a topic of controversy. During the release of the song on Spotify, Enjoy Enjaami appeared as a single performed by Dhee, Arivu, and Santhosh Narayanan. Further credits go on to show that the song had been written by  Arivarasu T. Kalainesan, Santhosh Narayanan, and produced by Santhosh Narayanan. A triggered Arivu denied these credits which resulted in him taking to Instagram to claim that he is the sole writer and composer of Enjoy Enjaami.
